7 Proven Video Marketing Ideas For Explosive Growth in 2022

Dec 27, 2021

Video marketing is a great way to engage with your audience and increase reach, but it can be hard to know where to start.

It can be a big challenge to create good video content that is actually converts into leads and sales.

Why mess around trying to figure out what works and what doesn't? You want to cut straight to the chase right?

That's why I put together these proven video marketing ideas. They have been used by businesses big and small around the world to increase reach, engagement, conversion rates, and revenue.

Okay. Let's get started!

1. Video Business Cards

How would you like your customers to pre-qualify themselves before they call and talk to you?

Imagine your prospective customers being ready to buy as soon as they pick up the phone.

That's the power of a well scripted video business card.

No more answering the same (brain numbing) question over, and over, and over again...

A video business card unchains you from the phone so you can get on with what you do best... providing the best products and services to your customers.

I love video business cards (if you can't tell). When it comes to my video marketing toolkit, they are by far my favorite. Nothing comes close!

Not only have video business cards generated thousands of dollars for my own businesses... they have generated hundreds of thousands of dollars for my clients.

Now, are you ready for a special treat?

I could waffle on (and on, and on...) about the why's, what's, and how's, but I decided to go one better...

Here's a presentation Kevin Anson (my video mentor) put together for a summit I hosted a while back. So buckle up... it's less than 30 minutes and Kevin shares some real gems.

I've taken all of Kevin's courses and highly recommend them. Here's a great one for anyone starting out - The Video Formula

Here's a case study I put together breaking down one of my successful videos - How to Create Killer Video Business Cards (Case Study)

2. How-to Videos

How-to style videos are a great way to build trust with your customers and help them achieve positive outcomes.

I have used how-to videos in many of my businesses. Here's just one example.

Back when I was a clinical therapist, I often prescribed stretches for my patients. These stretches were complex, had to be performed a specific way, and there was the potential for injury if they were performed incorrectly.

So, I had to take the time with each patient to demonstrate and explain the technique and dangers. Then, when they returned for the next visit, I found they hadn't performed the stretches as instructed... usually because they had forgotten how.

Perhaps you've experienced similar situations with your customers?

Anyway, this non-compliance had a direct impact on their pain management outcomes.

So, I created a video. I explained and demonstrated the techniques and went through how they could tell if they were doing it wrong... before they ended up hurting themselves.

Then, instead of taking 10 to 15 minutes to explain it to every patient I saw... I simply gave them the link to the video.

VoilĂ !

Now they had a detailed resource they could refer to anytime they liked.

I also took screen shots from the video and created a step by step document they could print out.

Any guesses what happened to their pain management and recovery outcomes?

If you find yourself demonstrating or explaining the same thing over and over again, make a video. You'll hang onto your sanity and your customers will love you.

3. Customer Testimonials

Customer testimonials are one of the most powerful marketing tools out there.

They build trust and social proof for your business, products or services... fast!

When you have happy clients who would love to share their stories with others... don't hide them under a bushel. Capture those moments on video and use them in all your digital properties (website, social media, ads etc.)

It doesn't have to be a high quality production. Just ask them to shoot a quick video on their smartphone.

A key point to remember is all testimonials aren't created equally... vague statements like, "Great product", or "XYZ really helped" (yawn) do little to help your prospect get off the fence.

Ideally, your customer testimonial should address questions and objections your prospect is stuck on.

The testimonial should include the customer's story, what they were struggling with, how the product or service helped them overcome the problem, and most importantly, what are the results and outcomes.

Here's an example of a testimonial targeted at international students. Language is one of the main concerns international students have. "Will I understand the teacher?..."

4. Promo Videos

Need to put the word out about a new product, sale, promotion, event?...

Promo videos are some of the most versatile content you can create. And you can have a lot of FUN in the process!

Promo videos can be used to advertise anything.

If you need traffic and leads, no matter what you're selling... a well constructed promo video is your most powerful asset.

These videos are generally short, punchy, and to the point. No use dragging it out here. The human attention span is shrinking... FAST.

It's not the job of the video to get the sale. The video just needs to raise enough interest and curiosity to get the viewer to take action. Usually click to visit the website.

Ideally, the video should qualify the viewer... is the thing your promoting of interest to them?

To learn more about how a successful promo video should be structured check out Kevin Anson's Video Formula course.

Don't run paid ads? Not a problem.

I've had great success loading promo videos up in social media feeds like Facebook and Instagram. They get a lot of organic reach and engagement.

These types of videos are also ideal for paid ads on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

Here's a promo video I created for an entertainment company (yes, it's square. It was run in the Facebook and Instagram feeds)

5. Live Video Streaming

This is probably one of the quickest and easiest ways to get in front of your prospects and customers.

You can go live in Facebook using nothing more than your smartphone.

When it comes to live streaming I prefer to use my desktop or laptop computer. I've got a reasonable quality webcam that streams in HD and a good quality USB microphone.

Using the built in webcam and mic is totally fine (just make sure your in a well lit area)

Live video streaming is great when you want to get interactive with your audience. They can ask questions via the chat so it's great for training and product support.

The great thing about live streaming is you don't have to worry about editing and uploading your video. It's just there, saved automatically to your feed.

You won't get a lot of people viewing you LIVE when you first start out. But don't despair, the majority of your views will come as people find the saved version of your video in your feed.

The advise is - be consistent. Choose a schedule and stick to it. Tell your audience you'll be going live every Friday at 11am Eastern.

You'll have a tribe of followers jumping on live with you before you know it.

6. Explainer Videos

You've no doubt seen those whiteboard doodle videos promoting products and services.

The strange thing about this style of video is they're EXTREMELY engaging!

Go figure.

The great news is they're very easy and affordable to create. There are a number of ridiculously cheap tools that do an outstanding job at creating whiteboard videos.

Here is an explainer video I created for one of my clients...

7. Case Study Video

When it comes to video marketing, case studies are a powerful way to increase trust and authority.

And they're great for lead generation too!

If you do them well, they can be insanely effective at converting leads into customers.

They take time to produce, but I think they're well worth the effort. And if you do them well, they can be insanely effective at converting leads into customers.

The process usually involves interviewing your customers and having them share their success stories working with you or using your product/service. Think of a case study video like a testimonial video on steroids.

You're showing the journey, detailing the pain and struggle (before), to the experience of using your product or service (solution), to the results achieved (after)
